Hi! I’m Kelli, the owner of Nik-Kel Photography. My journey into photography began at a young age, thanks to my dad, Jim Rose. He had an intense passion for photography and taught himself everything about the craft—composition, lighting, camera settings, and more. As he honed his skills, he often asked my sister and me to be his test subjects. This sparked my interest in photography.
As my dad upgraded his gear, he would hand down his old cameras to me, and that’s when I truly began to explore the world through a lens. We lived on the eastern plains of Colorado, where we spent countless hours shooting landscapes together—one of my greatest joys to this day.
My dad was a lifelong Nikon loyalist, and that’s how I began my photography journey—using Nikon cameras. The name Nik-Kel Photography is a tribute to his love for Nikons and his influence in my life. Though my dad passed away in 2018, his love for photography lives on through me, and I continue to capture the world as he taught me.
Photography has always been more than just a hobby for me. It’s a passion, a way of life that started with those early childhood moments. With my dad’s hand-me-down cameras. Over the years, my photography style has expanded beyond landscapes to include portraits, sports, candid shots, and more. Every photo I take is an expression of the love and joy I’ve found through this art form—and a tribute to my dad’s lasting impact on my life.
This is how it all started!
